Updated July 14, 2018 12:30:17FujiFilm, one of the world’s largest film companies, announced Tuesday that it is partnering with Panasonic to produce its next-generation film cameras and film lenses.
Fuji and Panasonic are the only film camera companies that have a shared production line.
The new line is expected to go into production in 2019, and Panasonic will also produce some of the camera and lens systems.
Fujiflm said it is developing the new line to meet a growing demand for interchangeable lenses.
“The FujiFilm brand is now a true digital camera and film company, as well as a leader in the digital imaging market,” said Fujiflum CEO Nobuhiro Nakano.
The company said it will begin production in 2021 and will offer its cameras in three sizes: 5, 6, and 7.
The 5, 7, and 10-inch models will have a range of 25- to 60-percent field of view.
It also plans to offer a wide-angle lens that can shoot at up to 12 megapixels, or about the same amount as a full-frame DSLR camera.
The lens will be made by Canon.
The new cameras and lenses will be available to retailers and customers in 2019.
Fujiflum has made a few cameras and lens improvements since the company first launched the 7-inch Fujifila X in 2014.
Last year, the company unveiled a new 7-series series of compact cameras that are the same size as the Fujifilera X. That camera, the Fujikura, will have the same image quality as the X, but will be about three to five times as expensive.
Fujinvision, the Japanese company that makes the Fujishis, also announced Tuesday it is releasing its own interchangeable lens camera in the Fujilm line, which is a new line for FujiFilm cameras.
The Fujikum line is a “new evolution of Fuji’s technology,” the company said in a statement.
It will use an innovative technology called an AF motor and the Fujicam EIS camera sensor.
The Fujikumen will be marketed as the “ultimate lens,” and it will be the first interchangeable lens to be produced by the company.
The FujiVision lenses will cost $7,999, while the Fujichan lenses will set you back $5,999.
Fujikume will be priced at $5.99 for a 35mm f/1.8 lens, and $849 for a 45mm f /1.4 lens.
Fujilam is offering the Fujis at a discount to existing FujiFilm customers.
The company also is making a new FujiFilm 3D camera with the same AF motor.
Fuis new camera will be offered in two sizes: 8- and 12-megapixel, and it is expected that the company will offer more cameras in the future.
